4. How do I determine who owns a property?

The DeKalb County Assessor maintains a database of the property owner of record for each parcel. To search the Assessor's website, please visit:

5. Does the City provide financial assistance to current homeowners?

The City of DeKalb designates funds to assist income-eligible residents with emergency and health and safety related rehabilitation projects on their homes. 6. Does the City provide financial assistance to home buyers?

Currently, the City does NOT provide down payment assistance for home buyers. However, the State of Illinois may be able to provide financial assistance to eligible first-time and repeat home buyers. For more information, please refer to the Illinois Housing Development Authority.
