Illinois Tollway Interchange Construction Transitioning to Peace Road

This week, contractors for the Illinois Tollway’s I-88 rehabilitation project announced that interchange construction in the DeKalb area will be transitioning from Annie Glidden Road to Peace Road in the coming weeks. Since May, interchange ramps at Annie Glidden Road have been closed for reconstruction. Contractors have completed work and reopened all but the eastbound entrance ramp to I-88 from Annie Glidden Road. As work on those interchange ramps concludes, the focus will now shift to the Peace Road interchange.

According to the Illinois Tollway, motorists can anticipate the following:

  • Wednesday, July 11 – The northbound lane of the Peace Road Bridge will be closed, along with the eastbound I-88 exit ramp to Peace Road. These closures are expected to be in place through early to mid-August.
  • Saturday, July 14 – The eastbound entrance ramp to I-88 from Annie Glidden Road will reopen, making all entrance/exit ramps at Annie Glidden Road accessible to traffic.

During this brief overlap, traffic will still be able to enter eastbound I-88 from Peace Road and exit eastbound I-88 at Annie Glidden Road. Detour routes for both Annie Glidden and Peace Roads will continue to be posted. Please note that dates listed are tentative.
