On Wednesday, D.R. Horton, a national homebuilder, broke ground on the construction of a new model home in the Devonaire Farms subdivision. This model home, located at 1705 Sunglow Lane, is the first of several new homes the builder has planned for lots they have acquired in the subdivision.
Devonaire Farms, which is located off Malta Road, west of the Knolls, was first approved in 2003 and construction was finalized on over half of the 330 lots before the Great Recession impacted the housing market over 10 years ago. Many of the already approved platted lots on the west half of the subdivision have remained without homes since that time. New single-family construction has been stagnant in the rest of the community as well. D.R. Horton’s commitment to developing and marketing its products to new and existing residents will bring much needed residential investment to the community.
In addition to meeting with City officials to secure building permits on lots already approved for construction, D.R. Horton representatives also reached out to and met with representatives of the homeowner’s association and are excited to become part of the neighborhood and the community.
D.R. Horton is the largest homebuilder in the United States, with products currently offered in the local communities of Elgin, Geneva, New Lenox, North Aurora, Oswego, Pingree Grove, St. Charles, and Yorkville. They expect to build 850 new homes in these and other communities that make up the Chicagoland market this year. Corporate information on D.R. Horton can be found here. Information on the products being offered in Devonaire Farms will appear shortly on their website at www.drhorton.com.
