[ARCHIVED] Open House Planned for Proposed Solar & Battery Facility Near DeKalb

Two rows of solar panels

An open house will be held June 15 on a proposal to build a solar and battery facility just south of DeKalb.

Red Maple Solar’s 300MWac solar project and 50MWac battery facility would be located on around 1,800 acres of farmland in Afton and Pierce townships, just south of the Facebook Data Center site.

The facility would be in unincorporated DeKalb County and will go through the county’s zoning process; however, given the facility’s proximity to DeKalb, the City felt it was important to share information on the open house with its residents.

According to Red Maple Solar, the open house will give the public and interested parties an opportunity to learn more about the project, have their questions answered and provide feedback.

The open house will be on Tuesday, June 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Barsema Alumni and Visitors Center, 231 N. Annie Glidden Rd. in DeKalb.

Information on the project can be found at redmaplesolar.com. Those with question can call 815-900-2570 or e-mail redmapleinfo@redmaplesolar.com.
