In the not too distant future, public transit users will be able to plan their trip with Google Transit. The technology feature is an integrated component of the Google Maps desktop and mobile phone application allowing users to choose a preferred method of travel to get to and from a destination. Google Transit will enable users to plan and make trips utilizing the DeKalb Public Transit system, providing information such as bus stop locations and arrival times. Google Transit also integrates with other transit agencies, and can connect passengers to other systems utilizing Google Transit including Pace, Regional Transit Authority (RTA), and Chicago Transit Authority (CTA). The City anticipates that Google Transit will be live for users by the end of the year.
