dr. john a powell returns to DeKalb
dr. john a powell is returning to the DeKalb area for an in-person conversation on Monday, November 27, 2023, hosted by the DeKalb Area Belonging Council.
Members of the community are invited to gather DeKalb High School for an important evening to build on and forge new efforts that prioritize belonging for a healthy community.
A free community dinner sponsored by the City of DeKalb will be served in the cafeteria from 5-6:15 p.m. It will be followed by a presentation in the auditorium at 6:30 p.m. The event is in-person, free, and open to the public.
Attendees can expect to leave with a clear understanding of what belonging is, why it matters in our community, and what we need to do moving forward to build a healthy community rooted in belonging.
DeKalb first welcomed dr. powell in 2020, when he made a powerful impact as he introduced concepts of belonging.
There is no cost to attend the evenings events at the DeKalb High School, but those who wish to attend the community meal need to register at belongingdekalb.com/events.
The conversation is hosted by the DeKalb Area Belonging Council (DABC) with the supportive funds provided by the DeKalb County Mental Health Board and the DeKalb County Community Foundation. More information can be found at belongingdekalb.com.
