It is the responsibility of the DeKalb Police Department to provide law enforcement and related services to our citizens and visitors. In accomplishing this, officers must be observant, identify unusual occurrences and law violations using reasonable suspicion, and act upon them. It is the proactive enforcement that keeps our citizens, our streets and highways safe. It also further enables us to detect and apprehend criminals.
All laws are enforced equally, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, economic status, age, cultural group or any other identifiable group.
DeKalb Police officers are responsible for ensuring that everyone they encounter is treated with dignity and respect.
