The DeKalb Police Department
responds to animal calls to protect citizens from the
danger of rabies, animal bites, and nuisance situations.

- Stray Dogs/Dog
Running at Large: It is unlawful for dogs to run at
large within the City limits. Dogs should be
kept on a leash or tied as to prevent access or
interference with public right of ways.

- Biting Dogs and
Animals: Any person bitten by a dog or animal should
report it to the police department. The animal
will be impounded in the event there is no proof of
inoculation.

- Barking Dogs: Dogs
may not prohibit the peace and quiet of others by
barking, howling, growing or whining.
|
- Vicious Dog: No one
may own or possess any dog which shall have attacked
any person on the street or public place either by
chasing, biting or attempting to bite that person
after receiving notice or having knowledge of such
attack.

- Number of cats and
dogs: No household shall have more than three dogs
or cats or any combination therefore in any single
dwelling unit.

- Cleaning up after
pets: Persons shall remove and dispose of all feces
left by a dog or cat on any public property and on
private property not owned by such person.
