DeKalb Sycamore Area Transportation Study (DSATS)
In the USA, urbanized areas with populations over
50,000, are required to create a Metropolitan
Planning Organization (MPO). The MPO
coordinates all transportation projects and programs
that receive federal funds in the urbanized area.
In the 2000 US Census, the DeKalb metropolitan
area population exceeded 50,000, therefore the
DeKalb-Sycamore Area Transportation Study
(DSATS) was created as the Metropolitan Planning
Organization (MPO) for the DeKalb-Sycamore
Urbanized Area (UA). The Urbanized Area
encompasses all or portions of the City of
DeKalb, the City of Sycamore, the Town of
Cortland, DeKalb County and Northern Illinois
University. DSATS holds monthly meetings
of the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) and
the Policy Committee (Policy). Please
contact the DSATS Office at 815-748-2367 to
check if a meeting you wish to attend is
scheduled as posted. Meetings are
occasionally canceled when there are no agenda
items to consider.
