The Voluntary Action Center
(VAC) of DeKalb County is governed by a board of
seventeen (17) individuals who represent a cross-section of private
businesses, public organizations, and the retired community in DeKalb
County. Board members are assigned to Transportation, Public Relations,
Finance, and Nutrition Committees within VAC. TransVAC is a transportation
service operated by the Voluntary Action Center of DeKalb County.
TransVAC operates a fleet
of 20 vehicles to provide deviated route and paratransit service throughout
DeKalb County. All the vehicles currently in use have lift equipment for
access to persons with disabilities, although some of the spare vehicles do
not have lifts. The fleet inventory is a combination of vehicles owned by
VAC and a number of leased vehicles.
Fixed Route
Deviated Service:
Green Line: 1 hour loop service
serving most major shopping, residential, and employment sites in
the City of DeKalb. Runs from 7am to 9pm.
Blue Line: 1 hour loop service
serving most major shopping, residential, and employment sites in
the City of Sycamore. Runs from 7am to 9pm.
Kishwaukee Shuttle: Morning and
afternoon shuttle to/from the City of DeKalb to Kishwaukee College.
Morning run at 7:30 am, Afternoon run at 3:30 pm.
Door-to-Door /
Paratransit Service
Door-to-Door
transportation for persons needing transportation from their residence
to work, shopping, or other locations. Advanced reservations are
required for this service. Operates from 7 am to 9 pm.
